This book is a really good one for every woman. It is an eye opener for women who fall into the same category as Sylvia, who was very naive, honest, trusting and loving, hoping her husband Patrick will love her the same way she did. From the moment I started this book, I was glued to it anxiously hoping page after page, that Sylvia would see Patrick was nothing but a user. She was head over heels in love with this loser who did not know she was a pot of gold to him. Which woman will give you so many chances, putting up with all the abuse. Let’s not tell it all. Go out there women and get this book it is really fab. Also don’t forget to keep the book for your daughters.

Mercy

This is an unputdownable novel that leaves you sitting at the edge of your sears. from start to finish i found the story engrossing. The characters are individuals in their own sense. Great lesson to be learnt as well. If you have been a victim of abuse then you’ll have a lot to relate to with this novel. If you are the type that like reading love stories that do not have a happy predictable ending, then you’ll love it. In its entirety, I think women should read this as it would help understand how damaging it could be for someone to love and not be loved back or for someone to keep sacrificing for the benefit of the other in a relationship.

Lady F

I enjoyed reading this book. Quite a sad story of love and the immense abuse of trust. It steers up all sorts of emotions, anger, shock, disbelief and even relativity to some extent. I’ll highly recommend this one to any body.

Maa Afua

This is a brilliant story about a loving wife who did the world for her husband so as to keep the marriage. Little did she know that her cheating husband Patrick was only using her. The most annoying bit was her in-laws who encouraged Patrick to have an affair with another woman. Not surprising in our african culture as some in-laws embrace it. Sylvia woke up from her long slumber and Patrick had a shock of his life because he never knew there was another side to Sylvia. She was a strong woman after all and not as timid as he thought. This book is a sure read for the whole family as there is a lot to learn for mothers, husbands and teenage children. Look out for Duplicity when you next visit your local book store.

Sylvia is a single British woman who falls in love with Patrick within a few weeks of meeting him. Patrick is a sensitive and caring man, everything that Sylvia is looking for. Soon they are married and Sylvia couldn't be happier until she uncovers some disturbing revelations about her husband. Patrick is facing deportation unless his status is updated by the home office and his mother has become too involved with their marriage. To make matters worse, Patrick has suddenly turned into this uncaring, sex addicted, violent man who only cares about satisfying his own needs. Will Sylvia try and save this marriage or will she walk away?

Duplicity is a thought-provoking novel by Shila Amos-Efe. Amos-Efe gives readers an insider's look into the life of a single woman looking for love in the United Kingdom. The drama that Sylvia goes through in her marriage will keep you glued to the pages. This story develops at a slow and easy pace, giving the reader a chance to really connect with the characters. Amos-Efe does a wonderful job of telling this heart-wrenching tale of domestic abuse without being too graphic. Duplicity is emotionally-charged and captivating. This is a wonderful start to Shila Amos-Efe's writing career.

A Must Read!!

I find this title quite a great read, At the start you wonder what it is about but the fact that the intro is interesting makes you want to find out what it is all about. The storyline is fascinating and could be quite sad, but enjoyable. The Sylvia character appears to be quite silly towards the middle of the story, but from this point it becomes exciting as tension begins to mount and Patrick I find quite annoying, the total control freak kind of husband who also appears to be mr nice guy to outsiders. I would recommend this novel to anyone, it would also be of great interest to women who had suffered abuse at the hands of their partners. It is a great source of information for psychologists. From start to finish they would find insight to how the victim thinks and how the abusers behave in situation, it also analyzes in details how the character, Sylvia tries to dress down the extent of abuse and also how it eventually affects the children.

Also recommended: Its graphic nature could be related to Nikki Soarde's version of Duplicity, not in its sex reference as unlike nikki's version, sex reference is mild but the action packed novel makes you want to read on. You feel the heat, the anger, the frustration and...

This is a great read guys!!! it is a story about love and just tells how much one could be blinded by it. Sylvia married Patrick on grounds of love but when she finds out that Patrick had something else in mind, her life is turned up side down by her unbelievable discoveries of her husband. Is he the sort of man she'd imagined and fallen in love with? well a few years down the line, they have children and it is only then that Sylvia's world comes crumbling down. With the father of her children fathering as many children as he could elsewhere, she also discovers that he would go to any length to attain wealth and to satisfy his unbelievably large sexual appetite!! Dealing with just that is a tip on the iceberg as she also has to deal with the in-laws who are always in their business, Patrick's greed leads him to do something that would endanger the lives of his family, how much more would Sylvia take? Would she carry on with the marriage that involves the in - laws??? I best not say too much. it is a fantastic read, a great page turner that is sure to leave you sitting at the edge of your seats with your hearts racing and your mouth open in shock! Phew, what a read!" it is a great page turner.

Duplicity is a fantastic read. I normally don't like fiction but was drawn by its eye catching cover and then the synapses on the back cover. The story line is fantastic and I was glad i bought this book. I find Patrick really annoying and to be honest, quite irritating. I like the start of the story as you get a clear picture of the characters and then the story progresses into a very intense nature with all the shock and betrayal of a loyal wife who unfortunately loves too deeply and who's love is not returned. I do not want to spoil the fun guys. It is appealing to everyone and in as much as it is fiction, there are a great deal of issues to learn from. It makes you wonder whether or not you could trust your spouse or whether or not you know them as well as you think you do. From start to finish I could not put this novel down. The end is very unpredictable which is what makes it even more exciting!
